Altkirch and the Sundgau region

The Enchanted Forest showcases the tales and legends of Sundgau and Alsace through small scenes throughout the town centre. A unique concept in Alsace, created and designed by visual artist Anne Zimmermann in the heart of Altkirch, the Enchanted Forest is a bold and contemporary alternative to traditional markets, inviting visitors to celebrate Christmas in an original way among fairies, elves, witches and knights.

Numerous events also enliven Altkirch during the Enchanted Forest: concerts, street performances, exhibitions, an outdoor ice rink and mapping. The Sundgau Tourist Office adds to the Christmas magic by organising storytelling tours of the Enchanted Forest and a Christmas treasure hunt during this period.

And to mark the New Year, Ferrette and its castle provide a superb setting for an unusual torchlight New Year's Eve celebration! The principle has remained the same for several years: on 31 December from 10 p.m., the Sundgau Tourist Office and Ferrette Town Hall invite you to a 3km walk around the castle. You will follow a path marked with candles that will lead you to the heart of this medieval enclosure, around the New Year's Eve fire, where you can enjoy a glass of crémant accompanied by music.
